Abraham’s (pbuh) struggle with idol worshippers:

  • 6:74Al-An'am | The Cattle, 74

Abraham said to his father, Azar: "Will you take idols as gods? I see you and your people clearly misguided."

  • 6:75Al-An'am | The Cattle, 75

Thus We showed Abraham the kingdom of heavens and earth, so that he will be of those who have certainty.

  • 6:76Al-An'am | The Cattle, 76

When the night covered him, he saw a planet, and he said, "This is my Lord." But when it disappeared he said, "I do not like those that disappear."

  • 6:77Al-An'am | The Cattle, 77

So when he saw the moon rising, he said, "This is my Lord." But when it disap-peared he said, "If my Lord will not guide me, then I will be amongst the wicked people!"

  • 6:78Al-An'am | The Cattle, 78

So when he saw the sun rising, he said, "This is my Lord, this is bigger." But when it disappeared he said, "My people, I am innocent of what you have set up."

  • 6:79Al-An'am | The Cattle, 79

"I shall turn my face to the One who created the heavens and the earth, as a monotheist, and I am not of those who set up partners."

  • 6:80Al-An'am | The Cattle, 80

His people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me regarding God, when He has guided me? I do not fear what you have set up except if my Lord wishes it so; my Lord encompasses all things with knowledge; will you not remember?"

  • 6:81Al-An'am | The Cattle, 81

"How can I possibly fear what you have set up; yet you do not fear that you have set up partners with God, for which He has not sent down to you any authority! So which of our two groups is more worthy of security if you know?"

  • 6:82Al-An'am | The Cattle, 82

Those who acknowledge and do not dress their acknowledgement with ineq-uity; they will have security, and they are guided.

  • 6:83Al-An'am | The Cattle, 83

Such was Our argument that We gave Abraham over his people; We raise the degree of whom We please. Your Lord is Wise, Knowledgeable.

  • 6:84Al-An'am | The Cattle, 84

We granted him Isaac and Jacob, both of whom We guided; and Noah We guided from before; and from his progeny is David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. It is such that We reward the good doers.

  • 19:41Maryam | Mary, 41

Recall in the book Abraham. He was a sincere prophet.

  • 19:42Maryam | Mary, 42

When he said to his father: "O father, why do you serve what does not hear or see, nor help you in anything?"

  • 19:43Maryam | Mary, 43

"My father, knowledge has come to me which did not come to you. So follow me that I will guide you to a good path."

  • 19:44Maryam | Mary, 44

"My father, do not serve the devil. For the devil was ever disobedient to the Gracious."

  • 19:45Maryam | Mary, 45

"My father, I fear that a retribution will inflict you from the Gracious and that you will become an ally to the devil."

  • 19:46Maryam | Mary, 46

He said, "Have you abandoned my gods O Abraham? If you do not stop this, I will stone you. Leave me alone."

  • 19:47Maryam | Mary, 47

He said, "Peace be upon you, I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. He has been most kind to me."

  • 19:48Maryam | Mary, 48

"I will abandon you and what you call on besides God. I will call on my Lord. I hope that I will not be mischievous in calling upon my Lord."

  • 19:49Maryam | Mary, 49

So when he abandoned them and what they serve besides God, We granted him Isaac and Jacob, and We made each a prophet.

  • 19:50Maryam | Mary, 50

We granted them from Our mercy, and We made for them a tongue of truth to be heard.

  • 21:51Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 51

Before that We gave Abraham his un-derstanding, and We were aware of him.

  • 21:52Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 52

As he said to his father and people: "What are these statues to which you are devoted?"

  • 21:53Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 53

They said, "We found our fathers serving them."

  • 21:54Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 54

He said, "You and your fathers have been clearly misguided."

  • 21:55Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 55

They said, "Have you come to us with the truth, or are you simply playing?"

  • 21:56Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 56

He said, "No, your lord is the Lord of heavens and earth, the One who initiated them. I bear witness to such."

  • 21:57Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 57

"By God, I will scheme against your statues after you have gone away and given your backs."

  • 21:58Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 58

So he broke them into pieces except for the biggest of them, so that they may turn to him.

  • 21:59Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 59

They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely one of the wicked."

  • 21:60Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 60

They said, "We heard a young man mentioning them. He was called Abraham."

  • 21:61Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 61

They said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people so that they may bear witness."

  • 21:62Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 62

They said, "Did you do this to our gods O Abraham?"

  • 21:63Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 63

He said, "It was the biggest one of them here who did it, so ask them, if they do speak!"

  • 21:64Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 64

So they turned and said to themselves: "It is indeed ourselves who have been wicked!"

  • 21:65Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 65

Then they reverted to their old ideas: "You know that they do not speak!"

  • 21:66Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 66

He said, "Do you serve besides God what does not benefit you at all nor harm you?"

  • 21:67Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 67

"I am fed-up with you and to what you serve besides God! Do you not reason?"

  • 21:68Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 68

They said, "If you are to do anything, then burn him, and give victory to your gods."

  • 21:69Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 69

We said, "O fire, be cool and safe upon Abraham."

  • 21:70Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 70

They wanted to harm him, but We made them the losers.

  • 21:71Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 71

We saved him and Lot to the land which We have blessed for the worlds.

  • 21:72Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 72

We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift, and each of them We made a good doer.

  • 21:73Al-Anbya | The Prophets, 73

We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We inspired them to do good work and hold the contact prayer and contribute towards better-ment, and they were in service to Us.

  • 26:69ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 69

Recite to them the news of Abraham.

  • 26:70ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 70

When he said to his father and his people: "What do you serve?"

  • 26:71ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 71

They said, "We serve statues, thus we remain devoted to them."

  • 26:72ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 72

He said, "Do they hear you when you pray to them?"

  • 26:73ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 73

"Or do they benefit you or harm you?"

  • 26:74ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 74

They said, "No, but we found our fathers doing the same."

  • 26:75ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 75

He said, "Do you see what you have been serving."

  • 26:76ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 76

"You and your fathers of old."

  • 26:77ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 77

"They are enemies to me, except for the Lord of the universes."

  • 26:78ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 78

"The One who created me, He will guide me."

  • 26:79ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 79

"He is the One who feeds me and gives me drink."

  • 26:80ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 80

"If I am sick, He is the One who cures me."

  • 26:81ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 81

"The One who will make me die and then bring me to life."

  • 26:82ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 82

"The One whom I hope will forgive my faults on the day of Judgment."

  • 26:83ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 83

"My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the good doers."

  • 26:84ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 84

"Give me a tongue that is true for those who will follow."

  • 26:85ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 85

"Make me of the inheritors of the gardens of bliss."

  • 26:86ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 86

"Forgive my father, for he was of those misguided."

  • 26:87ASh-Shu'ara | The Poets, 87

"Do not disgrace me on the day when they are resurrected."

  • 29:16Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 16

And Abraham when he said to his people: "Serve God and be aware of Him; that is better for you if you knew."

  • 29:17Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 17

"You are serving nothing but idols besides Him, and you are creating fabrications. Those that you serve besides God do not possess for you any provisions, so seek with God the provision and serve Him and be thankful to Him; to Him you will return."

  • 29:18Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 18

"If you reject, then nations before you have also rejected." The messenger is only required to deliver clearly.

  • 29:19Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 19

Did they not observe how God initiates the creation then He returns it? All that for God is easy to do.

  • 29:20Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 20

Say, "Roam the earth and observe how the creation was initiated. Then God will establish the final design. God is capable of all things."

  • 29:21Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 21

"God will punish whom He wills and He will have mercy on whom He wills, and to Him you will return."

  • 29:22Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 22

"You will not be able to challenge this fact, on earth or in the heavens, nor do you have besides God any ally or victor."

  • 29:23Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 23

Those who rejected God's signs and in meeting Him, they have forsaken My mercy, and they will have a painful retribution.

  • 29:24Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 24

But the only response from his people was their saying: "Kill him, or burn him." But God saved him from the fire. In this are signs for a people who acknowledge.

  • 29:25Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 25

He said, "You have taken idols besides God in order to preserve some friendship among you in this worldly life. But then, on the day of Resurrection, you will dis-own one another, and curse one another. Your destiny is hell, and you will have no victors."

  • 29:26Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 26

Thus, Lot acknowledged with him and said, "I am emigrating to my Lord. He is the Noble, the Wise."

  • 29:27Al-'Ankabut | The Spider, 27

We granted him Isaac and Jacob, and We made within his progeny the prophethood and the book. We gave him his reward in this world, and in the Hereafter he is among the righteous.

  • 37:83As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 83

From among his descendants was Abraham.

  • 37:84As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 84

For he came to his Lord with a pure heart.

  • 37:85As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 85

When he said to his father and his people: "What are you serving?"

  • 37:86As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 86

"Is it fabricated gods, instead of God, that you want?"

  • 37:87As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 87

"What do you say of the Lord of the universes?"

  • 37:88As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 88

Then he looked towards the stars.

  • 37:89As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 89

He said, "I am sick of this!"

  • 37:90As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 90

So they turned away from him and departed.

  • 37:91As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 91

He then went to their idols and said, "Can you not eat?"

  • 37:92As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 92

"What is the matter, you do not speak?"

  • 37:93As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 93

So he then turned on them, striking with his hand.

  • 37:94As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 94

    Then they approached him outraged.

  • 37:95As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 95

He said, "Do you serve what you carve?"

  • 37:96As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 96

"While God has created you, and all that you make!"

  • 37:97As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 97

They said, "Build for him a structure, and then throw him into its fire."

  • 37:98As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 98

So they wanted to harm him, but We made them the losers.

  • 37:99As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 99

He said, "I am going to my Lord; He will guide me."

  • 37:100As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 100

"My Lord, grant me from among the righteous."

  • 37:101As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 101

So We gave him good news of a compassionate child.

  • 37:102As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 102

When he grew enough to work with him, he said, "My son, I am seeing in a dream that I am sacrificing you. What do you think?" He said, "O my father, do what you are commanded to do. You will find me, God willing, patient."

  • 37:103As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 103

So when they both had peacefully surrendered, and he put his forehead down.

  • 37:104As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 104

    We called him: "O Abraham,"

  • 37:105As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 105

"You have acknowledged the vision." It was such that We rewarded the righteous.

  • 37:106As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 106

Surely, this was an exacting test.

  • 37:108As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 108

We kept his history for those who came later.

  • 37:109As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 109

    Peace be upon Abraham.

  • 37:110As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 110

It is thus that We reward the righteous.

  • 37:111As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 111

He was of Our acknowledging servants.

  • 37:112As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 112

We gave him the good news of the coming of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.

  • 37:113As-Saffat | Those Who Set The Ranks, 113

We blessed him and Isaac. From among their progeny, some are righteous, and some are clearly wicked.

  • 43:26Az-Zukhruf | The Ornaments Of Gold, 26

When Abraham said to his father and his people: "I am innocent of what you serve."

  • 43:27Az-Zukhruf | The Ornaments Of Gold, 27

"Except for the One who initiated me, He will guide me."
